Not answering your question, but I thought you might be interested to know
that Cambridge University Press have manually tagged 3 million words of
learner examination scripts for different type of errors. See
<http://www.cambridge.org/elt/reference/clc.htm> for some more info. This
error tagging enables us to analyse learner mistakes and is invaluable in
our publishing of English Language Teaching materials, especially
dictionaries. For example, we can quickly find the most common countability
errors ("informations").
