<s id="NEST_Norno.s3">For � komme enda lenger tilbake i historien kan vi g� til middelhavslandene og Kina.</s> <s id="NEST_Nor_009en.s3">To go even further back in history we have to travel to China or the Mediterranean.</s>

<s id="NEST_Norno.s4">Fordi nordlyset hovedsakelig opptrer over polomr�dene, har oldtidens filosofer ved middelhavslandene og i Kina i beste fall sett noen f� nordlysutbrudd.</s> <s id="NEST_Nor_009en.s4">As the northern lights mainly occur in the Polar Regions, philosophers from classical antiquity have, in the best of cases, only seen a few outbursts of the northern lights.</s>

<s id="NEST_Norno.s5">Det er ikke mulig � tidfeste n�yaktig n�r det f�rste nordlyset ble sett.</s> <s id="NEST_Nor_009en.s5">It is not possible to exactly pinpoint when the northern lights were first observed.</s>

<s id="NEST_Norno.s6">Noen mener, kanskje med god grunn, at en del av de eldgamle graveringer som er funnet i flere grotter langs Middelhavet, illustrerer nordlys.</s> <s id="NEST_Nor_009en.s6">Some believe, perhaps with good reason, that part of the ancient wall carvings that are found in many of the caves along the Mediterranean sea are illustrations of the northern lights.</s>
