<s id="NEST_Vanno.s8">Katastrofen i Barentshavet er den tredje ulykken av tilsvarende omfang som på knapt 15 år har rammet Russland.</s> <s id="NEST_Van_134en.s8">The catastrophe in Bering Sea is the third accident with equal repercussions which has struck Russia in only fifteen years.</s>

<s id="NEST_Vanno.s9">Tsjernobyl-ulykken og ubåten Komsomolets' forlis var omgitt med samme nøling, feilinformasjon og prestisjehensyn som havariet av Kursk.</s> <s id="NEST_Van_134en.s9">The Chernobyl accident and the sinking of the submarine Comsomolet were surrounded by the same hesitation, false information and considerations of prestige as the wreckage of Kursk.</s>

<s id="NEST_Vanno.s11">Det måtte en korrupt embetsmann i Nordflåten til for at navnene på de forulykkede skulle offentliggjøres.</s> <s id="NEST_Van_134en.s11">A corrupt government official in the Russian fleet was what was necessary for the names of the people in the accident to be publically announced.</s>

<s id="NEST_Vanno.s12">De pårørende fikk først ikke økonomisk hjelp til å reise til ulykkesstedet.</s> <s id="NEST_Van_134en.s12">In the beginning the friends and family of those involved in the accident did not receive economical support to travel to the scene of the accident.</s>

<s id="NEST_Vanno.s13">Mens myndighetene påsto at redningsluka var for ødelagt til å kunne rikkes, ble den åpnet av norske dykkere.</s> <s id="NEST_Van_134en.s13">While the government claimed that the rescue hatch was too damaged to be moved at all, it was opened by Norwegian divers.</s>
