Hi,

I am happy to announce the launch of Open Mind Commonsense, a web site
that tries to make it easy and fun for people around the world to
collaborate to build up a large database of general, "commonsense"
knowledge. The site is located at http://openmind.media.mit.edu (soon
it will be available at www.openmind.org). I invite you all to come
visit the site and contribute some of your commonsense!

We are making the contents of the database freely available and
downloadable immediately. Our hope is that this database will be a
useful resource to computational linguists, AI researchers, cognitive
scientists, web search engines, and anyone else interested in
understanding the meanings of words.

Work on the Open Mind site is really just beginning. Right now people
can contribute small facts and rules, but soon we will be adding
mechanisms to obtain stories, diagrams, emotional impressions,
problem-solving episodes, and other forms of mental representation that
may one day lead to systems capable of commonsense reasoning at the
human level.

Best regards,

Push Singh
