    Natural Language Engineering Positions at Reuters

    Reuters seeks energetic, and highly motivated Language Engineers to join the
    Research and Standards Group within Reuters Chief Technology Office.

    The major function of the Research and Standards Group is the investigation and
    evaluation of new technologies and software products, identifying those which
    can have a major impact on the business, and assisting in the transfer of these
    technologies into the business units.

    These positions would suit candidates with a NLP background who are interested
    in diversifying or alternatively, candidates who have an IR background but who
    have interest and knowledge in NLP techniques.
    We seek candidates with good fundamental knowledge who wish to broaden their
    interests and see their expertise applied in a practical business context.

    Candidates with a PhD are preferred although those with a Masters degree in a
    relevant subject would be considered.

    Areas of interest include;

    * Topic categorisation
    * Text summarisation
    * Machine translation
    * Information retrieval, including cross language information retrieval, and
    filtering
    * Information extraction
    * Statistical language understanding
    * Multi-media searching and access
    * Question answering
    * Speech recognition
    * Document structuring using XML

    You must be a good team-worker, a good communicator, self-motivated and eager
    to learn. Good programming experience and ability, flexibility and a
    willingness to tackle a wide range of problems are essential.

    Successful candidates will join a close knit group of highly motivated and
    qualified individuals and will be expected to establish themselves as experts
    in the Language Engineering area within Reuters.

    The positions are based in London.
