    you could have a look at the ELRA catalogue and particularly the MLCC
    resource (reference W0023) at http://www.elda.fr/cata/tabtext.html#corpora
    it consists of data from The Financial Times -1993, (if 93 is close
    enough to late 80')
    The corpus contains around 30 million words.
